Adaptive Grant and Scholarship Program
The Gurmilan Foundation Adaptive Grant and Scholarship Program, grants and scholarships will be awarded to individuals with physical disabilities currently in college students and/or seniors attending a high school in San Diego County.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS:
The grants are available for individuals with physical disabilities in need of support for adaptive equipment or activities that lead to a more active and empowered life including academic goals.
Scholarship Overview:
Through the Gurmilan Foundation, two (2) scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to young individuals with physical disabilities in San Diego County. These scholarships are intended to support the educational goals of current college students or high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree or technical certification.

All applications will be reviewed by an independent committee comprised of volunteers from the Gurmilan Foundation. Selections are based on alignment with the scholarship’s intent and demonstrated potential.

Empowering Individuals with Physical Disabilities in the Border Region
The Gurmilan Foundation Adaptive Grant Program provides financial support to individuals with mobility-related physical disabilities living in San Diego County and Tijuana. This initiative helps recipients pursue a more active, independent, and inclusive life by providing access to adaptive equipment, services, or other essential resources.
Grant Overview:
Grants are awarded based on individual need and demonstrated potential for increased inclusion or physical activity. Each application is carefully reviewed, and funds are allocated accordingly.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have a mobility-related physical disability (such as spinal cord injuries, limb differences, muscular or neurological conditions affecting movement).
Please note: At this time, the program is not open to individuals with visual, hearing, cognitive, or developmental disabilities.
Applicants must reside in San Diego County or the Tijuana border region.
Grants are for individuals only. However, organizations may sponsor and apply on behalf of an individual.
Program Guidelines:
All required documentation must be submitted in full to be considered.
Grants may be used for adaptive sports equipment, assistive devices, or accessibility-related needs.
Recipients will be announced and awarded on November 2025.
Review Process:
Applications will be reviewed by the Gurmilan Foundation Grant Committee and Governing Board. Selection is based solely on mobility-related disability, level of need, and the expected impact of the grant.
